Deanna Rodger

Deanna Rodger’s made a name for herself by winning the UK Slam Poetry competition, touring Germany & performing commissions in places such as, Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing street & 2012 Olympic Team Welcome Ceremony. she acts, facilitates workshops & produces events.

tommy sissons

Tommy Sissons is a nineteen year old spoken word poet & playwright from Brighton currently in his first year at Goldsmiths. His work focuses on numerous themes that touch on the impact of politics on youth culture, urban lifestyles & working class values. Tommy has performed at venues nationwide including the Royal Albert Hall, the Roundhouse Theatre, the Southbank Centre & the Birmingham Rep. He’s also worked with Channel 4 to produce the TV series Four to the Floor’ & his one man show A Day In The Life received a sell-out crowd at the Brighton Komedia. He’s also written plays that have been performed at the Chichester Festival Theatre & London’s Unicorn Theatre among other venues.

Sean Mahoney & Zia Ahmed

Sean Mahoney & Zia Ahmed went to the same school. Secondary. It’s called Hampstead but is in Cricklewood. Cricklewhaat. They’ve been in a few plays at Hampstead Theatre together & now gig a lot together doing spoken word. They’ve both done the Roundhouse Poetry Collective & last year did a show with their favourite poet (and Roundhouse Collective boss) polarbear. They’ve had about seven years to do a show together. aAt bornfree::fridays Sean will do bits of his boxing show and Zia will do bits of his C11 show. This is as close they have gotten. They are super excited!

In the tradition of ‘Paris is Burning’ The House of I is a welcoming creative space in which innovative and thought provoking artists from a range of different backgrounds can share their work. The ethos is to empower invisible creative voices to become visible. The Mother of The House of I, Lasana Shabazz will be showing a ticketed performance of international one-man show Minstrels.

Special Guests also include Performance Artist Jade Montserat, Musicians Baby Tap and Silk Worm, Spoken Word Artist Chima ‘Harmanoff’ Nsoedo and DJ Mistamaker. There will also be an open mic and stage for multidisciplinary artists who would like to share tasters of their own work on the night.

Happenstance creates a series of inter and un-connected performances based around the surrealist parlour game (exquisite corpse) and chance interactions with the audience. With improvised music by Galvanize ensemble, other music/installation by Tansy Davies, Helen Papaioannou, Robert Szymanek, Paul Fretwell, Phil Maguire, John Cage and world premiere of new commission by sound artist Angie Atmadjaja. Artist Claire Orme presents her new work, as paranormal investigator cum radio ‘DJ Claire Voyant’, broadcasting a ghostly collage of noise into the ether.
