Back again with another relaxed session of readings & storytelling from your hosts + three featured poets:
Hannah Lowe’s first collection chick (bloodaxe, 2013) was short-listed for the forward best first collection prize, Seamus Heaney first collection prize & the Aldeburgh Fenton best first collection prize. Her pamphlet, Ormonde (Hercules Editions) was published in November 2014, & her prose memoir long time, no see (periscope) is due in July.
Zia’s a member of the Elephant Collective. Elephant’s a collective of writers, poets, rappers, visual artists, producers & storytellers. They’ve performed around the world from New York to Berlin, Paris to Sofia, popping up everywhere from BBC Radio, to CNN, to festival stages, sipping tea & telling stories. Performance highlights include; Bestival, the House of Commons, Secret Garden Party, the Southbank Centre & many more. Zia won the Roundhouse poetry slam in 2011.
Belinda Zhawi’s a writer & educator born in Zimbabwe. Most of her work focuses on her memories of living in rural & urban Zim. Belinda’s performed across the UK in numerous venues, festivals and events including Africa Writes, Tate Britain, Bestival, Big Chill, Soho Theatre, Barbican & Book Slam. As of Oct 2013, Belinda’s been enrolled on the MA writer/ teacher program at Goldsmiths College. She’s also the co-host of born::free fridays.
