The Kitchen Experiment part 1
KITCHEN EXPERIMENT 01 ‘EAT THE WORLD’ with The Modern Pantry’s ANNA HANSEN
‘Eat the World’, our first food-focused, salon-inspired event at LimeWharf featured celebrated chef, Anna Hansen of The Modern Pantry. Guests were invited to come and dine at our thematic pop-up kitchen, a union of a salon and feast aiming to encourage diners to engage in lively debate and conversation, accompanied by special musical performances, commissioned events and digital installations each night. Launched on 6 March and running on Wedsnesday, Thursday and Friday evenings throughout the month guests dined around the Worldscape, a colossal sculptural table which mirrors the world’s geographic contours designed by architect, Alex Haw (Atmos). A few culinary surprises created by Anna Hansen and LimeWharf’s Thomas Ermacora were served to trigger conversations around the future of food, particularly on topics suggesting the remediative capacities of nature.
Musical entertainment varied each week with the London Contemporary Orchestra in-house for 6-8 March followed by master multi-instrumentalist and sound artist David Coulter (13-15 March), playing Jews harp along with musical saw, and Gregor Ridell a composer, cellist and founder member of the Solstice String Quartet (20-22 March). The entertainment at Limewharf was a musical exploration of resonance – playing with time, space and an exploration of emotions which alongside guest speakers and extraordinary digital installations provided a sensual scenography prompting unprecedented dining relationships. Aesthetes, scientists, hackers, mélomanes and all lovers of radical creativity found their senses and minds satiated.
