Katlego Kai Kolanyane-Kesupile

Botswana born Trans* ARTivist, Katlego Kai Kolanyane-Kesupile (Kol-Kes) is a groundbreaking ARTivist who uses various art forms for human rights activism and advocacy, bridging the gaps created by jargon and societal insecurities. She is an outspoken advocate for Trans* visibility and is an active member of the Queer Tours of London collective. Kol-Kes is a graduate of Sociology at Goldsmiths University of London, holding an MA in Human Rights, Culture, and Social Justice, as well as of the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, with an Honours degree in Dramatic Arts.

With over 20 years’ musical training and experience, she has an experimental musical project/band called Chasing Jaykb which has performed internationally. In 2017 she recorded her “Queersmas Carols” at Limewharf and is planning on releasing more music with the project in 2018. Kol-Kes is a TED Fellow and the Founder and Creative Director of the Queer Shorts Showcase Festival (Botswana). More on Kol-Kes can be found on her website: kkolkes.wix.com/kkolkes
